2010 MotoGP Pick the Podium Contest – FINAL RESULTS

There can be only one. It was a tight contest throughout the season, as usual. The best way to stay at or near the top was to play every week, and that’s what our top finishers did. The top 3 players above will be taking home prizes including an XBox 360 with a copy of MotoGP 09/10, a high-res video account on MotoGP.com for the 2011 season, and a race team jersey. MotoGP Pick the Podium Contest – Results for Round 18 – Valencia

Round 18 of our MotoGP Pick the Podium contest had one clear-cut observation. You guys are getting good. This round saw more players pick the correct finishing order than at any time during the season. There were also 3 players that predicted the correct margin of victory (4.5 seconds). That also never happened before. It was a photo finish for sure!

THIS IS IT. The final race of the 2010 MotoGP season, as well as the final round to crown our 2nd overall Pick the Podium champion. Valencia is always a very special place for racing, and this one will be no exception. On the MotoGP grid, everyone wants this last one, for all sorts of reasons. In our contest, just 40 points separates 3rd place from 1st. It will come down to the wire – CHEERS to all that have participated over the course of the season!

MotoGP Pick the Podium Contest – Results for Round 17 – Estoril

Round 17 of our MotoGP Pick the Podium contest had a clear-cut winner, along with a comfortable and lonely ride for 2nd place, but a 12-way battle for 3rd place was finally settled by yes – you guessed it – the closest estimate for the margin of victory. There’s only one round left and the 2010 Pick the Podium champion will be crowned!

Congrats to the podium finishers – the trick is to keep competing every week and let the points pile up! Here are a few facts about the selections for Round 17 at Estoril:

1. 2010 World Champion Jorge Lorenzo was the overall favourite to win the MotoGP race

MotoGP Pick the Podium Contest – Round 14 – Motegi

The Aliens have resumed normal service, and are holding open auditions. We are now in the part of the season where those who have something to prove will go about the business of proving it. Three races in three weeks – it’s a tough test for everyone, and the championship will be getting some clarity for sure. Jorge Lorenzo has the best lead he can hope for in championship points, and he’s fired up to get back on the podium after missing it for the first time all season 2 weeks ago at Aragon. Dani Pedrosa is in great form, and the Honda seems to have found its way to the pointy end of the timesheets on a regular basis. Will Casey Stoner have another display of mastery and show the consistency that’s been missing all season? Will Nicky Hayden or Ben Spies grab another podium? Will Valentino Rossi continue his public conversation regarding skipping the last two races of the year?

Round 12 of our MotoGP Pick the Podium contest saw the highest point scoring of the season. The projected margin of victory once again made the difference between 1st and 2nd place. There was a 4-way tie for 3rd place, and the margin of victory settled the score there as well!

1. Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo dominated the selections to win the MotoGP race

MotoGP Pick the Podium Contest – Round 13 – Aragon

Dani Pedrosa is doing the business, but it’s a big ask to catch and then overtake Jorge Lorenzo, both on the track and in the World Championship standings. Dani is showing that the Honda has gotten it’s act together, but we have yet to see a real slap-fest toward the latter stages of a race, which is what fans really want to see. Dani also has his new contract sorted, so he’s probably even more dangerous as there are no distractions. Jorge Lorenzo may have to claim the MotoGP podium as a second residence, as he is spending a lot of time there. Oh yeah, #46 – he is also getting stronger and stronger each week, and has firm plans to get his Yamaha M1 on the top step before the end of the season.
