Valentino Rossi – “But when something so sad like this happens everything else goes to zero and the result doesn’t matter. I’m so sorry for Shoya because he was a strong rider but above all he was very ‘sympatico.’ He was very funny, always smiling and he always had nice things to say to everyone. He was also very young with a great career ahead of him so we are all very sad.”

ANY CHARACTER

Herve Poncheral – “But today means nothing after the news of Shoya Tomizawa. Shoya was a great rider who always gave his all on the bike. He was also a great person who was always smiling and with whom I got on well. I want to send my thoughts to his family and friends.”

My condolences and my respect from Spain.
    R.I.P Shoya.
  • Very sad new indeed. Thanks for the riders comments. Onwards with the title now, in Tomi's honour. Its what all racers want.

It was a nice touch for Toni Ellis to say his best wishes to Tomi after he won the race, Im sure he will dedicate the title ( if he wins it ) To Tomi-san.

We can all look back with pride knowing that Tomi-san will go down in history as the first ever Moto2 race winner.

    Top rider.

I also have noted a little something with reserved numbers:

    34 is reserved.
74 is on hold with the Kato familys permission for use.
46 will no doubt be reseved when Vale hangs them up.
48 might be reserved as a sign of respect.

All these number have 4 in them. Means nothing I know, just something I noticed.

  • So sad. I didn't know Shoya personally, but the comments of those who knew him say he was a great guy, a great talent (that was plain to see in his riding ability) and a great competitor. I for one wouldn't argue with that. Sincere condolences to his friends and family. R.I.P Shoya

Deepest condolences to friends and family of Shoya.
Although I do not know you in person, as do most people, I do believe that great sportsmanship reflects the kind of personality and spirit that a person possesses. You have shown your quality, great attitude and passion for the sport you so loved. You will forever be remembered in the history of MotoGP and across the world of Motorsports as an outstanding rider, competitor and also as an excellent human being.
May you rest in peace, Shoya Tomizawa.
