MotoGP Pick the Podium – Results for Round 8 – Sachsenring

Round 8 of our MotoGP Pick the Podium saw the return of Valentino Rossi to the realm of possibilities, but his dramatic and impressive return did not translate to many predictions that he would have a podium finish.  He came within 1 final turn of doing so, but in the end Casey Stoner took the spot and many players scored points as a result. Once again, the tie-breaker (margin of victory) had to be used to settle 2nd place, but there was a clear winner of Round 8 – Dani Pedrosa style – he took off at the front, and never looked back!  Congrats to the podium finishers – the trick is to keep competing every week and let the points pile up! In addition to the Grand Prizes that will be awarded at the end of the season, we have prizes awarded after every race, so you can play for those prizes as well as stay in the hunt for the long haul. Here are a few facts about the selections for the Sachsenring round:

1. There was roughly a 50-50 split between predictions that either Lorenzo or Pedrosa would win the race

2. One player predicted the EXACT margin of victory (3.5 seconds) and earned 25 bonus points

3. 5 players selected the podium results in the correct order (Pedrosa – Lorenzo – Stoner)

4. Of the 17 riders on the MotoGP grid, 5 were selected to win the race (Stoner, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Dovizioso, Rossi)

5. Of the 17 riders on the MotoGP grid, 7 were selected for podium positions (Stoner, Lorenzo, Dovizioso, Pedrosa, Hayden, Spies, Rossi)

6. Pol Espargaro and Marc Marquez were overwhelmingly the heavy favourites to win the 125cc class race

7. Toni Elias usually dominates the selections for the Moto2 class, but there were plenty of choices behind Iannone as well.
